The advanced diploma of educational counselling ( in personal / spiritual awareness and relationship education) 52721WA is completed in 2 or 3 years of full time study, or may be completed part time and self paced.
After years of counselling I found that counselling alone was not enough, clients often required knowledge of relationship skills.
Counsellors trained in the above are qualified to teach skills related to counselling. Graduates will have a specialized knowledge of personal/spiritual awareness and relationship education, combined with counselling and teaching skills that are person centred. They are trained to develop facilitate and review resources, and in the analysis of individual and group needs.

Training Outline:
Training is experiential and may be completed in 2 years, part time.
To obtain the professional graduate qualification 6 units must be studied with assessment and practice, there are four electives.
Individual study programs may be undertaken with recognition of current competencies (this involves assessment) of prior learning.
Teacher training is incorporated into the units of competency, such as course development, delivery and assessment. Counselling and teaching skills are formed by extensive supervised practice. Teaching skills enable the trainer to develop learning programs according to the ongoing needs of the community and are therefore vital.
